Welcome to Grasslands Regional
FAMILY & COMMUNITY SUPPORT SERVICES

Grasslands Regional FCSS is an inter-municipal partnership designed to deliver preventive social programming. It was formed in 2004 to meet the increasingly diverse needs of communities found within the Newell Region.

What We Do

We are a collective voice that unites and empowers a network committed to strengthening people and communities, turning the momentum of ideas into action. By fusing the power of passionate people, high value services, bold ideas, and resolute advocacy, we find our true purpose – creating meaningful, positive impact for the benefit of all.

Community Pulse
  • Collect formal and informal feedback to determine community assets and areas for development.
  • Help Build Community Capacity through community development services.
  • Build Community Capacity through voluntary sector funding & in-kind support. 
Education & Training

Provide education and training opportunities to build capacity in organizations through workshops, conferences and forums.

Research

Conduct research to determine local assets and gaps/needs such as the creation, implementation, and analysis through our Quality of Life Community Survey which provides information for each community and region as a whole.

This research has been designed to be replicated every so often as required to better understand the changing needs of our communities and region across the sectors.

Grant Connect Loaner Program

Voluntary Sector Support through our Grant Connect Loaner Program, access to a funding database funded by Grasslands Regional FCSS to access potential grants to support non-profit organizations with programs and services.

Programs & Sponsorship
  • Host Citizen of the Year & Junior Citizen of the Year which encompasses our region (since 2007).
  • Partners in the Newell Regional Expo multi-year project.
  • Provide subsidized supports to the Seniors Meals on Wheels and Seniors Home Cleaning Programs
  • Volunteering Section on the website to seek Volunteers, list Volunteer Opportunities and provide information on Volunteer Management and Volunteer Research.
  • Sponsor the Brooks & District Chamber of Commerce Non-Profit Award.
Community Response Committee

Community Response Committee, a cross-sector committee designed to respond to large-scale, emergent situations in our Region.

Grant Funding

We fund preventive social programs through direct funding and community development services.

Quality of Life Reports

The Quality of Life project began in the fall of 2011 seeking a means to increase understanding of communities within the Brooks-Newell Region, including the City of Brooks. The intent of the research was to determine a Quality of Life model or matrix that could be applied to the Brooks-Newell Region.
